Emotional Freedom Technique - commonly known as EFT or ‘Tapping’ - is a brief, gentle intervention that combines cognitive focus (talking about a difficulty or feeling) with physical tapping on specific points on the face and upper body, drawn from the same meridian system used in acupuncture.

The process typically involves tuning into a particular difficulty, naming it honestly, and tapping through a sequence of points while staying with the experience. Many people find that distress reduces noticeably within a session - sometimes quite quickly, sometimes gradually over time.

EFT has a growing evidence base, particularly for anxiety, PTSD, phobias, pain and performance anxiety. It can be learned as a self-help tool as well as used in practitioner-led sessions, which makes it particularly practical - you take it with you.
